Around The NCAA

Some interesting happenings in college basketball so far tonight. Here's a recap:
  • LeVance Fields hit a trey late in overtime to give #9 Pitt a win on the road against #7 Duke. Fields led all scorers with 21 points, but their Freshman DeJuan Blair dominated the glass with 20 rebounds and also chipped in 15 points.
  • Oklahoma just knocked off #20 Gonzaga 72-68. This is the Bulldogs' 3rd loss of the season. They are as good-as-gone from the top-25.
In Big Ten action:
  • Miami of Ohio traveled to Champaign and surprised the Illini in overtime, 61-58. Things have not been looking too bright recently for Weber and Illinois.
  • Northwestern got their 5th win of the year, beating Howard 77-51.
Pitt is an interesting subject. The past couple years there have been rumblings about adding another team to the B10. Personally, I'm for it. One of the names thrown around is bringing in Pittsburgh. Sign me up. They'd add a lot of strength to our conference as far as basketball goes, and they have their moments in football as well. Solid academic institution too, which we know the B10 cares about.
